King One Design X ICOM
At the 2025 International Council of Museums (ICOM) General Conference in Dubai, the Taiwan Pavilion—designed by King One Design—was conceived around the core concept of AI × Culture × Island Vitality, responding to the conference’s vision for the future role of museums. The overall visual identity integrates the three signature colors—Taiwan Red, Taiwan Blue, and Taiwan Gold—to outline the island’s form and express the symbiotic relationship between land, sea, and human culture. The pavilion further incorporates AI-powered interactive guiding and digital experiences, enabling international audiences to explore how Taiwan’s museums connect cultural memory through innovative technologies, and to experience Taiwan as a “Museum Island” defined by its dynamic vitality and contemporary expression.
Exhibition Design Express
ICOM President Emma Nardi stated, “Museums have no borders; they are a network.” The 2025 ICOM General Conference took place in November at the Dubai World Trade Center, marking the first ICOM gathering in the Middle East, North Africa, and South Asia, and the first international assembly since the pandemic—symbolizing a pivotal moment for the museum ecosystem. The conference employed a multi-layered spatial design to foster cross-disciplinary dialogue, with over 4,500 museum professionals and researchers attending the opening ceremony on November 12.
This year’s conference focused on three core themes: safeguarding intangible cultural heritage, empowering youth as active participants in cultural dialogue, and leveraging emerging technologies such as AI to navigate the digital era. The Taiwan Pavilion, designed by King One Design in collaboration with the Chinese Association of Museums, featured three zones aligned with these themes, showcasing Taiwan’s blend of humanistic culture and innovative technology on the global stage.
"Flow" and "Fusion" | Taiwan Pavilion Features Three Themed Zones with a Circulating Island-Inspired Visitor Pathway
The Taiwan Pavilion for this year’s exhibition was designed around the core concepts of “Flow” and “Fusion.” Curved lines and arcs shape a visitor pathway that moves from the exterior to the interior, with seamless transitions between zones, creating a naturally extended and intuitive touring experience. The pavilion’s spatial layout reflects the conference’s three main themes: the “Stage & Cultural Exchange Zone” showcases cultural performances and international interactions; the “Youth & Local Innovation Zone” highlights the integration of youth creativity with local culture; and the “Exhibits & Technology Interaction Zone” employs AI, AR, and other smart technologies to provide an immersive experience. Each zone has its unique character, yet under the design principle of Flow × Fusion, they interconnect harmoniously, collectively presenting the Taiwan Pavilion as an island of innovation and humanistic spirit at the 2025 ICOM Dubai Conference.
